The Rules

How to Play

The goal is simple to state and stubborn to achieve: fit all thirteen pieces flat inside the frame, with no gaps and nothing overlapping. Here is everything you need to know.

The goal

You start with thirteen loose pieces sitting in the tray below the board, and an empty frame above. A solve is complete when every piece is lying flat inside the frame, every bump seated in a neighbour's notch, with no overlaps and no empty space left over. There is no picture to match and no timer forcing your hand — just the packing.

The pieces

Each piece is a flat disc ringed with bumps (rounded tabs that stick out) and notches (rounded hollows cut in). A bump on one piece is designed to drop neatly into a notch on the piece beside it. Because the pieces are round, they don't announce their orientation the way a jigsaw tab does — a piece can face many directions, and part of the challenge is finding the one that lets it lock into its neighbours.

Placing a piece

Drag a piece from the tray onto the frame. When it is over a spot where it genuinely fits, it snaps into place; if that spot is taken or the piece doesn't belong there, it slides straight back down to the tray, so the board never ends up in an impossible state. Pieces you haven't placed yet can be dragged around the tray freely to keep things tidy.

To turn a piece, tap it (or press R) to rotate it by one step — sixty degrees at a time. Press F to flip it into its mirror image, which matters for the pieces that aren't symmetric. Rotating and flipping are the whole toolkit; between them you can point any piece in any orientation it's capable of.

When have you solved it?

The moment the last piece settles and the frame is completely filled with no overlaps, the puzzle registers the solve. Because the same pieces can be packed in many valid ways, the arrangement you found is one of a great many correct answers — not the answer. Every distinct solution you discover is saved to your Solutions gallery so you can revisit and replay it later.

Tips for getting unstuck

  • Work from the edges inward. Pieces along the frame have fewer neighbours to satisfy, so they're easier to commit to first.
  • Read the bumps and notches. Before placing a piece, look at what its would-be neighbours need — a bump has to meet a notch, never another bump.
  • Use flip on the awkward pieces. If a piece almost fits but its "tail" points the wrong way, flipping it is usually the fix.
  • Don't marry your first idea. With so many valid solutions, backing a piece out and trying a different neighbourhood is often faster than forcing the one you started with.

Extras

Beyond the classic solve, Quasi Puzzle includes a picture mode that prints an image you upload across the pieces (so you're solving a packing puzzle and a picture at once), a set of colour skins for the pieces, a daily streak counter, and an optional online leaderboard you can join if you'd like to compare times, moves and the number of unique solutions you've found. All of it is free.
